This photo shows how thick and long Mervyn’s hair was at that stage of her life. I think Caleb took this shot with her hair as the real subject of the picture. She always kept it long, until sometime after she went to live in the Presbyterian Manor when she was in her late 80’s or early 90’s, and could no longer care for her hair by herself. I know her hair was short in the few years before she died…

We have a picture of her with Whit, probably about 1988 or so, and her hair was short then. Our daughter, Denise was lucky enough to inherit Mervyn’s beautiful, thick hair, and she still wears it long ( and straight, way past her waist) at age 46. Denise looks quite young for her age, not too much different from her high school days! Mervyn aged well too, but always wore her hair braided on each side, and wrapped in a circle on the side of her head, not straight like Denise does.
